In the Old Rajinder Nagar neighborhood of central Delhi, three Civil Service hopefuls lost their lives when a coaching center’s basement flooded on Saturday night as a result of heavy rain. The bodies of Shreya Yadav from Uttar Pradesh, Tanya Soni from Telangana, and Nevin Dalvin from Kerala were discovered by rescuers as they excavated the basement. Aspirants and students at Rau’s coaching center became extremely enraged at the incident, and other institutions protested outside the coaching center and carried signs criticizing the authorities for the murders.

In April 2024, 25-year-old Shreya Yadav from Uttar Pradesh’s Ambedkar Nagar enrolled in Rau’s IAS tutoring program. Out of her three siblings, Shreya was the oldest. Her goal upon moving to Delhi was to ace one of the hardest exams in the nation. Shreya graduated with a B.Sc. in Agriculture from Sultanpur’s Kamla Nehru Institute of Technology. Her instructors and family recall her as a bright child who was always “smart in studies” and as a potential student.

Tanya Soni, a 25-year-old woman, was originally from Aurangabad in Bihar but now lived in Secunderabad, Telangana. She attended Delhi University as a student. She had enrolled in the coaching program 1.5 months prior and was living in the women’s dorm at Maharaja Agrasen College, DU, according to news agency PTI. Vijay Kumar, Tanya’s father, is employed by a Telangana mining business. She had a brother and a sister who were her younger siblings.

Nevin Dalvin The 28-year-old Nevin Dalvin, an IAS candidate from Ernakulam, Kerala, had been residing in Delhi for around eight months. He was a Jawaharlal Nehru University PhD candidate. Nevin, who was lodging at Patel Nagar, had gone to the underground library on Saturday morning at around ten in the morning. Nevin’s family is originally from the Thiruvananthapuram district and has been residing in Ernakulam for the past ten to twelve years.
