On August 23, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to travel to Ukraine and meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The prime minister has never traveled to Ukraine during the country’s conflict with Russia. The visit also takes place a few days after President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Modi met in Russia. PM Modi had a meeting with Zelenskyy during the G7 Summit in Italy almost a month ago.
PM Modi was allegedly invited by Zelensky earlier this year. Additionally, the two presidents had a meeting almost a month prior, when they were spotted hugging each other outside the G7 Summit in Italy. On the day that Prime Minister Modi was awarded a third term following the Lok Sabhal elections, the president of Ukraine also thanked him.
The Prime Minister visited Russia earlier this month, and during his visit the two nations decided to expand their collaboration in a number of areas, including shipbuilding and nuclear power. Tuesday’s meeting of their leaders took place in Moscow, where they also talked about solutions to payment issues.
