Manikarnika by Anju Modi
The journey from the past continues…
She has been a couturier ever since. Creating garments and reviving Indian Handicrafts to recreate her magic in the world of fashion is the USP of this designer from The House of Modi.
A modest Anju Modi takes the final round with show stopper Kangna Ranaut
The feminity with which Anju Modi designs is par excellence. Her garments have a touch of delicacy, a brush of colorfulness and brilliant strokes of creativity. Each garment is a piece of art well fabricated and superbly crafted. Anju’s design sense is so deep rooted that every collection that she creates comes out with its unique element yet being a part of the entire collection.
This time she calls it Manikarnika, an ode to the woman from the past yearning for the zeitgeist lost in time and exploring the world to satiate her desires. As always, Modi has focused on revival again, this time the embroideries are derived from the architectural paintings of Ajanta and Ellora caves. The collection for India Couture week has a soft yet colourful feel to it with the palette following hues of earthy, sepia and old-rose, and ornamented with richness of the bejeweled tones of ruby, emerald and burgundy.
