Karan Johar welcomed his kids, twins Yash and Roohi in 2017.

‘It is a modern family,’ Johar defended the couple, and for some truth, their situation could barely be defined as usual. It may, therefore, be quite perplexing, now that I am also answering questions about ‘in whose stomach was I born? but that woman is not my mumma, she is my grandmother’. I am heading to school, to the counsellor, to seek advice on how we handle it. But, it’s not always fun, being a parent isn’t easy.

Yash and Roohi, who celebrating their birthday this year and that too on the same date as well, were born through surrogacy in 2017. The children are being raised by Johar alongside his mother Hiroo Johar and in his birthday messages to them, Sawari expressed the loving dad he has become. He defined them as the “shinning sunshines” of his life characterizing them of having laughter, attitude, and limitless affection.

Even though Johar is actively involved in parenting, he has not shied to discuss the #beingaslackfather struggle and loneliness of being a single parent. However, I have two children. Of course, they are co-raised by me and my mother which negates the concept of co-partnering them so, I’m single,” he said. ‘That’s what we all do when you’re single,’ she continued, ‘You’re alone, and you don’t want to confront that feeling.’
