The effects of monsoon are gracing our country and though we get a break from the harsh heat of summer, monsoon brings in a packages of diseases. Due to the high moisture and humidity level, June marks the onset of bacteria and viruses in our environment, and therefore, awareness level regarding our food should be high. Avoid Raw Fruits and Vegetables
It is preferred to carry fruits and vegetables in raw forms and that is very dangerous during the monsoon period because, these germs multiply quickly on raw foods. Do not have raw food items such as salads, fruit chaats or any raw vegetables. It is however recommended to eat fruits and vegetables that are cooked or steamed.
Choose Steaming Hot Foods:
Cooking foods hot steam kills bacteria’s and virus, foods should therefore be steamed hot. One should take steaming hot soups, dal and rice during the rainy season as they provide warmth to the body.
Avoid Street Food:
Foods that are sold on the streets are great breeding grounds for bacteria and viruses and eating such foods during monsoons is dangerous. It is necessary to avoid products that are sold on the streets such as chaat, golgappas, and kebabs.
Drink Boiled Water:
Boiled water should be taken is summer time and during the monsoon session. To minimize possible waterborne diseases, abstain from taking tap water for drinking, cook food in boiled water.
