Does Honda Amaze, really amaze us?
In the year 2014, we have seen all the big manufacturers coming up with their mid-size saloons. Hyundai launched the Xcent and Honda launched Amaze, to compete with Suzuki’s popular and one of the highest selling saloon, Dzire. Honda also introduced the diesel engine across its range of vehicles including the Honda Amaze. This entry level sedan is indeed a sensible buy; firstly it Honda and secondly it looks better than the Xcent and Dzire both.
Honda Amaze comes in two variants. The 1.2L i-VTEC petrol produces 88ps of power at 6000rpm and delivers 18kms per litre. The 1.5L i-DTEC diesel engine produces 100ps of power at 3600rpm and returns an impressive 25.8kms per litre. The diesel engine is a better buy for anyone who drives more than 50kms each day else the petrol engine becomes the smarter choice. The interior reflects the smart design thinking that has gone into it; clean lines, curves where required, ample dashboard space, and a two tone colour. The top variant comes equipped with convenient steering mounted audio controls, an interesting yet sporty speedometer with orange backlight, a USB and aux port, and an Eco mode indicator.
Honda Amaze hosts a lot of other features like the turn indicators on the electronically controlled external rear view mirrors, keyless entry, and rear seat centre armrest with space for keeping that coffee mugs or occasional beer cans, and front dual airbags.
So, what does all the features and the engine options mean for the buyer, basically it means a yet another option to confuse us. But, one good look on the outside and the inside of this car called Amaze, and then a look at the competition’s Xcent and Dzire would make you decide in Amaze’s favour. You may choose the Honda Amaze as the company has paid attention to the car’s design on the outside as much it did on the inside. It definitely isn’t a hatch with a boot, it actually is a sedan. The side profile of this machine is different from others in its class, lines flow across the side and door panels originating at the front and rear that end in the middle, the engine delivers a class leading mileage. You still want more reasons!
