The legendary Indian footballer Sunil Chhetri bid his international farewell in style as the India ended their 2026 FIFA WC Qualification on a goalless manner against Kuwait. Finally, the 39-year-old Chhetri is the fourth leading goal scorer in international football with a total of 94 goals to his name.

The match against Kuwait was not the happy ending that many had dreamt of the face of Indian hockey team. As you can imagine in a country where fans are craving for major footballing accomplishments, the draw has soured the mood further especially given the position that it has left India in with regard to World Cup qualifying. India has five points in hand but the daunting task of playing Asian champions Qatar in their final qualifer scheduled for June 11 awaits them.
