Kolkata airport flights services resumed on Tuesday after its operations were closed for 21 hours due to cyclone Remal, said an official on Monday.
The flight operations started at the crack of the dawn as IndiGo’s Kolkata-Port Blair fight which left at 8. 59 am, and SpiceJet flight which was already at the 16 th position launched the first flight in Kolkata from Guwahati. It landed at 09. 50 am, an Airports Authority of India (AAI) top official said Further, another AAI top executive said that the aim to have at least one airport in each state of the country is still going as per the policy set by the Civil Aviation Ministry.

The last flight out of Kolkata airport on Sunday was at 12. 16 pm.
Even though efforts towards flying operations have started, there will still be more time required before things can return to normal, the airport sources mentioned.
The cyclone which struck the state around the midnight and got land fled at many places resulting heavy rainfall through the night especially in the southern part of West Bengal which includes Kolkata. Further the cyclone led to the death of 2 persons.
The Kolkata airport authorities have now closed the terminal for 21 hours beginning from noon today due to the probable effects from cyclone Remal.
The action was taken following a meeting of the stakeholders in the NSCBI Airport operation, here today, the official added.
