  • Reflection of the past year

One of the most important things to do as we move forward is to reflect on how 2023 was. Review your achievements and growth, try to learn from the challenges and setbacks, and most importantly, learn from the mistakes we made. • Setting realistic goals

One of the reasons why we always feel unhappy with where we are in life is because we set goals that do not have a lot of meaning attached to them or are very unrealistic. So establishing achievable and meaningful objectives is very important. Goal setting for mental health includes breaking down the larger goals into smaller and manageable tasks. This will help you feel a sense of accomplishment and achievement.

  • Prioritizing self-care

Self-care for good mental health is something that goes a long way. Other than proper self-care, mental, physical and emotional well-being is the key to achieving good mental health this year. So make sure that you put yourself first, say no to things that pull you down, and no to relationships that are not happy.

  • Build supportive relationships

Relationships and mental health have a very important correlation. Cultivate new connections that make you feel happy. Encourage open communications with your partners, friends, and everyone to nurture the existing relationships. The more supportive relationships you have around you, the better you are prepared to handle any distress in the future.

  • Embrace mindfulness and relaxation

Mindfulness, yoga exercises, or any sort of physical activity that gets you moving and gets the blood flowing is also important from a mental health perspective. Yes, the feeling of physical fitness also helps to boost your self-confidence and self-esteem, making you happier and livelier.

  • Learn to balance work-life

In 2024, make sure to have a boundary between your work and personal life. Keeping a good balance between the two parts of your life is essential if you want to lead a happy life. Avoid burnout at work, take breaks often and not bring your work home are a few ways that can help you achieve this balance!

  • Seek Help!

One of the most important things to do this year is to ask for help. To ask for help takes courage and there is no shame in going for therapy or counselling. It is time that we remove the stigma and normalise that people can suffer from poor mental health and need support. So, go to a therapist, talk to friends, be vocal- but, ask for help and know that you are not alone!

May 2024 be full of new things and good mental health! Let’s start with these small tips and see where it takes us!
