Tragedy struck in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar district when a mini-bus collided with a container on the Samruddhi Expressway, claiming the lives of 12 people and injuring 23 others. According to the police, the accident occurred in the early hours of Sunday. The driver of the private bus, which was carrying 35 passengers, lost control and collided with the container from behind.

This devastating incident unfolded around 12:30 am in the Vaijapur area, nearly 350 kilometers from Mumbai. Among the victims were five men, six women, and a minor girl. The injured were promptly admitted to a government hospital.
PM Modi Offers Ex-Gratia Support
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow over this tragic loss of life and extended his wishes for the swift recovery of the injured. He announced an ex gratia payment of Rs. 2 lakh to the families of each deceased and Rs. 50,000 for those who sustained injuries.

The Maharashtra government has also stepped in to provide support to the affected families. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde announced an ex gratia payment of Rs. 5 lakh to the victims’ families. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis paid his heartfelt tribute to the victims and expressed his concern for the injured.

Care for Injured
Out of the 23 injured, 14 have been admitted to Ghati Hospital, where the Collector and other officials were present to oversee their care. The remaining six injured individuals are receiving treatment at Vaijapur Hospital. Efforts are underway to provide financial assistance to the families of the deceased and cover the treatment expenses for the injured, underscoring the collective empathy and support for those affected by this tragic accident.
