“No mention of the India-Canada row during Jaishankar and Blinken’s meeting!”

During their meeting, U.S. Secretary of State Blinken and Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar spoke about a variety of subjects but avoided addressing the issue of India-Canada on an alleged assassination involvement. Cooperation in clean energy, space, and military was underlined. There will be a sixth 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue between the two countries in November, however, no specific dates have been made public.

Silent Stance on India-Canada Dispute: Blinken Avoids Comment during the the press conference after meeting with S. Jaishankar.

On Thursday, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar had a meeting with the U.S. Secretary of State, during which they discussed a comprehensive range of topics. Notably, there was no reference to the dispute regarding Canada’s allegations of India’s involvement in the assassination of a Khalistani terrorist.

Before the next 2+2 Dialogue, the Secretary and the External Affairs Minister also emphasized the value of ongoing cooperation, particularly in the fields of defence, space, and clean energy, according to State Department Spokesperson Matthew Miller.

According to Mr Jaishankar’s announcement on Thursday, New Delhi will hold the fifth 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue between India and the US. The ministerial dialogue is expected to take place in the first half of November, while he withheld the exact dates of the meeting.

“It’s great to be back here. Of course, we had the Prime Minister visit this summer. We appreciate the support of the United States for the G20 Summit,” Mr Jaishankar expressed during a joint press conference with Mr Blinken before their meeting.

Mr. Blinken declined to answer reporters’ questions regarding the Canada dispute. He stated, “It’s a pleasure to welcome my friend and colleague, Foreign Minister Jaishankar, to the State Department and back to Washington. We’ve had very productive discussions over the past few weeks, including at the G20 and during the General Assembly in New York. I look forward to continuing these discussions this afternoon.”

After Blinken met his Indian counterpart, the U.S. State Department released a formal statement on its website that did not refer to Canada or the murder of Nijjar.formally referred to as a readout, a brief State Department summary of the themes covered in the discussion between Blinken and Jaishankar listed Points including India’s G20 chairmanship, the development of an India-Middle East-Europe corridor, and subjects like defence, space, and clean energy.

On Tuesday, Jaishankar said that Delhi had informed Canada that it was willing to look into any “specific” or “relevant” details it provided about the slaying. Trudeau claimed last week that he had informed India of the “credible allegations” “many weeks ago,” though he has yet to provide any public proof.
