Kids need the right environment and patience to help overcome their inhibitions and apprehensions. What are some simple learning techniques for kids to feel more confident?

  • Practice in front of a mirror

A great way to help the kids become more confident is to ask them to practice in front of a mirror. When they practice in front of a mirror, they can control how they speak, what they speak, their expressions as well as their body language. This acts as a great tool for them, which they can then replicate in the real world.Role-playing  

Role-playing is an excellent way to help kids get over their inhibitions and apprehensions. Ask the kid to play the role of someone else or themselves in a situation that otherwise would have stressed them out. Try talking to them, creating a dialogue, and anticipating all the possible ways in which the conversation can go. This will help them feel more confident when they are in actually that situation.

  • Creating a safe space

 It is also important that kids have a safe space. Creating a safe space for the kid means allowing them to talk about whatever they are feeling and their apprehensions without the fear of judgment. Having a safe space for kids is also good for their psychological growth and mental well-being.

  • Having role models

 Role models can be an excellent way for kids as kids learn a lot from observing others and people who are close to them or whom they see in their daily lives. Role models who have desirable behaviors are good for the kids as they learn to replicate that desirable behavior.

  • Inculcating relaxation techniques into daily life 

Including relaxation techniques such as meditation or even sitting quietly for 5 minutes, enjoying their meal, not watching TV and not doing anything which is a sensitive overload for them is a great way for them to become more confident and overcome the inhibitions and apprehensions.
