Rahul Gandhi’s Attack on PM Modi over Parliament Speech : PM spoke on Manipur for just 2 minutes

Rahul Gandhi criticises the PM's handling of the Manipur violence and stresses the need for action notwithstanding the suspension of the MPs. Minister responds, mentioning a change in regional emphasis.

Rahul Gandhi calls for action amid the suspension of opposition MPs and criticises the PM Modi’s handling of the violence in Manipur.

Addressing a press conference in New Delhi on Friday , Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has attacked Prime Minister Narendra Modi over his speech in Parliament on the issue of Manipur Violence. Rahul stated, “The Prime Minister addressed in Parliament for around 2 hours and 13 minutes yesterday. He discussed Manipur for two minutes in total. The PM was smiling and making jokes despite the fact that Manipur has been on fire for months, where people are dying and being raped. It doesn’t work for him.

‘The (PM’s) address wasn’t about India’, he continued; rather, ‘it was about Narendra Modi. He was discussing his political beliefs, political ideas, and goals. The issue is Manipur’s burning, not whether he becomes prime minister in 2024. The prime minister at least could visit Manipur, meet with the locals, and tell them, “I am your PM; let’s start talking,” but I don’t perceive any motivation.

While Criticising PM over his words on Manipur Communal Violence, Congress Leader said that “multiple instruments in his hands”, but he is not using them to end the violence.”

Rahul Gandhi has also said on the topic of the Opposition MPs suspension Parliament, he said,”Our job will not change even if they (government) suspend MPs. Our job is to stop the violence in Manipur”.

Union Minister Kiren Rijiju responded to the Congress leader’s comments by stating, “Rahul Gandhi thinks that the Indian Army should end the Meitei-Kuki war in 24 hours. He either lacks understanding of the repercussions of a large-scale military action or it is indicative of his attitude.

He contrasted the treatment of the northeast under the previous administration with that of the PM Modi administration. “In 1966, the Indian Air Force was used to bomb Mizoram by the Congress administration. Kiren Rijiju quoted Prime Minister Narendra Modi as saying, “North-East is a piece of our heart.”
