Harjot Singh Bains, Punjab’s Minister of School Education and Language, revealed that Amity International School in Mohali, Sector 79 has been penalized with a fine of ₹50,000 for not teaching Punjabi as a mandatory subject.The education department discovered that the school was not adhering to the Punjab Learning of Punjabi and Other Languages Act, 2008, despite holding a no-objection certificate from the Punjab government.

School Fined for Language Violation:
Upon receiving a show-cause letter from the director of school education, the school faced a hearing, during which it was found to be in violation of the Act’s provisions. As a result, the school was fined ₹50,000 for its first offense, in accordance with the Act’s regulations. The school has been given a directive to settle the penalty within a five-day period and also to provide a report concerning the issue.
