Bank of Baroda customers closed their accounts in UAE! 4 Fake News from the onset of March

Here is a list of four fake news from the first week of March

A girl was beaten in Iran for not wearing hijab properly; Bank of Baroda customers closing their accounts in the United Arab Emirates; four fake news from the first week of March.

No.1: Bank of Baroda customers closing their accounts in the United Arab Emirates

Kisne feka: In February, Sanjay Chadha, CEO and MD of Bank of Baroda, reportedly said that the state-backed lender is willing to lend additional money to the Adani Group amid the row with the Hindenburg Research.

Truth bomb: A mob gathering outside a Bank of Baroda branch in the UAE is going viral with the claim that customers are closing their accounts after the bank announced it would continue lending to Adani.

In an official statement, MoneyControl reported on February 27, 2023, that the Bank of Baroda has clarified that it had taken a commercial decision to close its UAE branch in Al Ain from March 22, 2023, after receiving approval from the UAE Central Bank.

No. 2: Budget 2023: 5% tax to be levied on healthcare!

Fake news: According to social media, a letter referring to a ‘misery tax’ allegedly imposed by the Centre in the recent budget is spreading like wildfire. The letter claims that imposing taxes on healthcare is a “shameful” move by the government.

Foolproof: The viral letter is not from the recent Budget for 2022-23. The letter pertains to the proposal made in the 2011-12 Budget, where the central government introduced a service tax on the healthcare industry. Eventually, the move was rolled back after opposition from Dr Shetty and the private healthcare industry.

No. 3: Girl drenched in blood, beaten for not wearing hijab properly

Kisne Feka: A disturbing video of a girl with blood on her face is widely circulated across social media. According to the video, the girl was attacked for not fully covering her head with a hijab.

Truth bomb: The incident dates back to March 2022, and the assault took place when a parent intervened in an argument between two students and hit the girl. Hence, the viral claim is false.

No. 4: Rahul Gandhi: Satyagraha means never abandoning the path of power

Fake news: There is a video going around on social media of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi giving a speech. While sharing this video, people trolled Gandhi and claimed that he does not understand the meaning of Satyagraha.

Foolproof: The viral claim is misleading. Rahul Gandhi said in his speech that Satyagraha was a term coined by Mahatma Gandhi. Satyagraha means never abandoning the path of power. Sorry, never deviate from the truth’s path. There is a new term for them, the BJP and RSS. We are satyagrahis, and they are power grabbers. They will do anything for power, meet anyone, and bow to anyone. This is their truth.” Rahul Gandhi immediately corrected his mistake in the video, which was clipped and shared on social media.
