Nikki Yadav was a victim of love jihad! 4 Fake News of the week

Here are four fake news of the week you should not believe

With Monday Blues, fake news ko bhi rakhna Hai durr. So, before pressing the forward button, ask the fake news mongers Kisne Feka! Get the most authentic, the Foolproof info only at One World news where we pledge to bust every communal, social and political false claim. From Nikki Yadav being a victim of Love Jihad, claims against Pakistan denying access to airspace to India’s plane carrying relief aid, here are four fake news stories from the week.

Nikki Yadav was a victim of love jihad

Kisne feka: Many social media users tried to give the recent valentine day‘s horror a communal spin. On February 14th, the Delhi Police arrested a man from the outskirts of Mitraon Village in Delhi’s Najafgarh district for murdering his live-in partner Nikki Yadav and dumping her body in family-owned ‘dhaba’s’ refrigerator. The following day, he married another girl. Users claim this is a matter of love jihad.

Foolproof: However, the viral claim is false. Our investigation revealed that the accused’s full name is Sahil Gahlot, and it is not a case of Love Jihad. Both the accused and the victim belong to the same Hindu community.

Bhagat Singh was hanged on Valentine’s Day

Fake news: On Valentine’s Day, a claim was going viral across social media that freedom fighters Shivaram Rajguru, Sukhdev Thapar, and Bhagat Singh were hanged to death on February 14, 1931. Netizens were urging people to celebrate February 14 as Black Day to remember Bhagat Singh instead of Valentine’s Day. This claim has been viral in the past as well.

Truth dose: The viral claim is false. On Wikimedia, you can find Bhagat Singh’s death certificate. The statement notes, “I certify that the sentence of death passed on Bhagat Singh has been duly executed and that the said Bhagat Singh was…hanged…till he was dead, on Monday, the 23 day of March 1931…”

According to a law scholar, the death sentence was passed on October 7, 1930.

Video from the last rites of the 2019 Pulwama attack Shaheed

Kisne feka: A video is making rounds on various social media platforms, which shows a girl paying tribute to a soldier, saying he was martyred during the Pulwama Attack, which took place in 2019.

Foolproof: The viral video depicts the final rites of Colonel Munindra Rai, who was killed in an encounter in the Tral area of Pulwama in 2015, not in the Pulwama attack in 2019. Hence, the viral claim is misleading.

Pakistan denied airspace to India’s plane carrying relief aid

Fake news: The devastating earthquake struck southern, central Turkey and western Syria on February 6th. Indian Air Force aircraft flew to Turkey on February 7th with search and rescue teams, medical equipment’s, etc. Many media outlets reported that Pakistan denied airspace to India’s C-17 plane, carrying relief aid.

Truth dose: The viral claim is false. An article by India Today published on February 7, 2023, titled, ‘Indian Air Force not flying over Pak while going to Turkey, Syria for relief ops’. The reason ascribed to this is that military aircrafts don’t fly over the neighbouring country as per the SOP, Standard Operating Procedure.
