Good news: UP becomes the 1st state to have 13 expressways

It is a proud moment for Uttar Pradesh as it became the first state in India to have 13 expressways. The 296 km long Bundelkhand Expressway will be dedicated on July 16, connecting Bundelkhand with Delhi. It will help the people of Chitrakoot, Banda, Mohoba, Hamirpur, Jalaun, Auraiya, and Etawah districts. The 13 expressways have a total length of 3200 kilometres, while work is in progress on 7, whereas six expressways are already operational.

Khush Khabri: 1st floating CNG station installed in Varanasi

Top pilgrimage destination Varanasi gets the first floating CNG fuel station on the banks of the Ganges. The station was built by GAIL (India) Limited at Namo Ghat. Prime Minister Modi also unveiled 500 boats converted to use environment-friendly Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) from petrol and diesel.

This move will help make the holy river Ganga pollution-free. Conversion to CNG will bring down pollution.

Good news: Team India wins 14 Medals in Elorda cup 2022

Making the Indian flag fly high, team India concluded its journey at Elorda cup 2022 in Nur Sultan, Kazakhstan, whooping 14 medals. The medallist lists two gold, two Silver, and ten bronze.

Alfiya Pathan and Gitika won 2 gold medals in this event, whereas Kalaivani Srinivasan and Jamuna Boro won Silver.

Breathing Healthy: Chennai had the cleanest air among 10 non-attainment cities in India

Chennai had the safest air in the National Clean Air Scheme despite high summer temperatures in March. From 2011 to 2015, non-attainment cities did not meet the national ambient air quality standards.

According to an analysis of the daily recorded PM2.5 and PM10 levels in ten cities, which include Agra, Bengaluru, Delhi, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Chennai, Jodhpur, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Patna, Chennai was the only city with PM2.5 levels in allowable limits. Its PM10 level was also not met until March and May.

A father-daughter team-Air, Commodore Sanjay Sharma and his daughter Ananya recently made history in the Indian Air Force (IAF) when they flew in the same formation

In 1989, Air Commodore Sanjay Sharma was commissioned in the fighter stream of the IAF. He has extensive fighter operations experience, commanding a Mig-21 squadron and a frontline fighter station.

After completing her B Tech in Electronics and Communication, Ananya qualified for training for the flying branch of the IAF. In December 2021, she was commissioned as a fighter pilot.

Breaking trends: Gita Gopinath-1st woman to on IMF’s ‘Wall of former chief Economics’

Taking on the role of chief of the International Monetary Fund, Gita Gopinath created history. Gita becomes first woman and 2nd Indian to feature on IMF’s ‘Wall of former chief Economics.’ She shared a post on social media where Gopinath can be seen posing alongside her framed picture on the wall of former Chief Economists of the IMF.

Before her career in the IMF, Ms. Gopinath was the John Zwaanstra Professor of International Studies and Economics at Harvard University’s economics department (2005-22).
