‘Teach lesson to China’ trends on top, here are some interesting tweets
The stand-off at Ladakh’s Galwan Valley has escalated in recent weeks due to the infrastructure projects that India has undertaken in the recent years.
The martyrdom of 20 soldiers in the Galwan Valley, Ladakh during the confrontation with Chinese forces has increased the anti-China sentiments in India. Top five trends on Twitter were related to the India-China standoff which has resulted in the death of 20 Indian soldiers. While #TeachLessonToChina trended on top for several hours, #WeStandWithIndianArmy trended on second on Wednesday noon. Other trends were #indiachinastandoff, #BoycottChineseProducts and #DeshKaSandesh. Not just them but the Chinese Ambassador and #galwanvalleyclash also made it to the list of top trending hashtags. It was one of the rare occasions when the top five Twitter trends were related to the same issue.

What happened at the LAC
Soldiers of both the countries engaged in a deadly conflict along the undefined Line of Actual Control for the first time in 45 years. Sources have confirmed 43 casualties on the Chinese side too. The bilateral-relation between two Asian nuclear-powered countries witnessed an all-time low after the deadly conflict. It came days after the two countries seemed to have settled the six-weeks-long-eyeball confrontation with senior-level military talks.
Military personnel of both the sides weren’t involved in firing shots because of the peace treaty signed in 1993 during the P V Narasimha Rao government. However, they exchanged punches, threw stones at each other. Chinese troops are believed to have used nail-studded clubs and rods to attack Indian soldiers during the brawl that lasted for 6 hours.
Anit-china sentiments are increasing in various parts of the world after the COVID-19 spread across the globe. The latest confrontation has added fuel in the anti-China sentiments in India. Urges to ask people to boycott Chinese products has come into the limelight again with many Indians pledging never to buy Chinese products again.
