WHAT MEN DO NOT WANT ON VALENTINE DAY!
“When I was young, I was daunted by the idea of Valentine-day, proposals, guys etc. I actually used to wait for it every year, in expectation that something romantic would happen. But usually it would just pass by like any other day, and I would have to listen to other girl’s stories, about how their valentine day went by. So, I stopped thinking and believing in the concept of Valentine-day” Says Neha Yadav, 3rd year student of Delhi University, for whom Valentine-day is now just like any other day. She adds, “You have no clue how irritating it is, to listen about something you never had!” sounding little cribbing and also little angry about it. Another girl Shubha Sharma, totally opposite to what Neha said above, said “Well, for me, to look at people in love makes me happy and enjoy the day”
In era where having a boyfriend/girlfriend is also considered as a status symbol; one is looked down upon if he or she doesn’t have a Valentine/ date on the so called “Love-day”. There are people who are happy and celebrating this day but also there are people who are sad. And in mid of such people there are also strata of people who are afraid of this day, not because they might have to shed their pockets for their beloved, but because of events that have screwed their past valentine-date.
There are many who had bad-experiences with their dates or faced something that actually screwed this day completely. We tried to dig-in deep into these experiences and found out what worse can happen on the most-awaited day for lovers, THE VALENTINE DAY. Surprisingly, it is men who have experienced shocking events/moments on this very day. It would not be surprising to listen to something which is romantic from a girls or women perspective about this day, but none of us have actually thought of what is the perspective of men about this day. On top of that, what a man does not expect to happen on his Valentine-day/ Valentine-date.
Most men had the same grumble- their girlfriends going through monthly cycles. “Someone has said it right that something’s are good when they are left unplanned. I am in relationship since past 3 years, we both planned a very romantic night together and on the very morning of THE DAY, she gets her periods and I could do nothing but cancel the whole plan.” Says a college student, who did not want to be quoted with a name.
Shikhar Sharma, student in Mumbai, when asked what could be worst for him to fear on a Valentine day, said “Imagine this most awesome hot sexy chick walking towards me and asking me out, and just when I say yes and make my move she tells me that all this was a hoax. It was a part of the ‘DARE’ game with her friends!”
A lot of men also say that they have actually caught hold of their loved ones with someone else in café, romancing with them and when they made an appearance, act like the other guy is brother. Whereas there are men who were dating so many at a time, that they by mistake sent some other’s message to some other person, and were caught. “I was dating five girls together; they never got to know about one another, until I got myself drunk so much on 13th midnight that when my girlfriends called me for wishing me valentine day, I messed up with names of every one. Only I know how I survived the next day.” says an MBA student.
While talking about all this we also came across men, who did not want to see that their ex’s or loved ones have moved on before they did or thought that nothing can be worse than breaking up on the same day. Some more quirky ones also include- not wanting any news on baby or the baby itself or realizing that condom just burst inside their lady or death of someone close, sudden discussion on past girlfriends while making love and so on. Also, majority are of the view that they would not want their girls to expect something out of the way because each year it gets hard for them to complete their wish-list.
So girls out there, after reading this article, now you at least have basic idea of what a man would not want on their valentine-day, so be well-prepared.
